"Harry Potter" is one of the most popular book series of all time, not to mention the movies. As I am a huge Potterhead, my life revolves around B.H.P. (Before "Harry Potter") and A.H.P. (After "Harry Potter"). Here are some struggles only Potterheads will understand.
1. Still waiting for your Hogwarts letter
You're way past your 11th birthday but you still can't come to terms with the fact that your Hogwarts letter still hasn't made its way to you. Every year, there's a little part of you that hopes to see an owl swoop down to drop a letter at your feet.
After knowing about life at Hogwarts, there is no way Muggle school or college will ever keep you happy.
2. Never truly knowing which house you'll be sorted into
Sure, Pottermore has a quiz to sort you into the Hogwarts houses. However, that will never be the same as watching the Sorting Hat sing his strange songs or waiting nervously in line for your name to be called out for The Sorting. Of course -- we all know that the Sorting Hat does take the wishes of the wearer into consideration and in that way, we might assume what house you could be placed in. But for no Potterhead will that ever be enough.
3. Finding someone who will love you as much as Snape loves Lily
Snape has to be one of the most misunderstood characters of all time, but he is also the most romantic. The love that Snape had for Lily would be the ideal for every romantic Potterhead. Don't be surprised if your significant other decides to leave you because you said you wouldn't be able to be a death eater for him/her. Severus Snape will never fail to give me the chills. He will forever be my dream guy. Always.
4. Muggles not getting your Harry Potter references
Getting weird looks for saying Alohamora before unlocking the door or saying Lumos before turning on the lights? I can relate. We've all frantically waved a stick at someone and yelled out a curse at one point or another in our lives. However, these Muggles never seem to get it. Like, siriusly riddikulus, right?
5. Still not over the fact that it's over
For Potterheads, "Harry Potter" isn't just a book or a movie. It's a lifestyle, it's the best friend you've grown up with, and it's your escape from reality. Most Potterheads haven't come to terms with the fact that the golden trio and their adventures are over. All we can hope and pray is for J.K. Rowling to write about another one of their adventures.
Although Harry, Hermione, and Ron have gone their own ways and are living ordinary wizards' lives, their stories will live on through us. Potterheads will always find a way to make a Harry Potter reference even though it irritates the hell out the their friends, and Potterheads will still cry over Fred's death. Even though we've never gotten out acceptance letter, Hogwarts will always be our true home.
